pundit
A desktop app for breaking down game film. Open the match video — one file or several, both halves played straight across the join — and record your commentary over it while you watch. Everything you do to the picture while you talk is recorded with your voice: play, pause, seek, zoom and pan, freehand drawings, and a ring that follows a player you have highlighted. Each recording becomes a clip you can name, tag, annotate and find again.
The second half of the job is getting it out again. Tag goals and the start and
end of each period, and pundit keeps the match clock and the score, drawing
them into previews and exports. Then export what you need as .mp4 — every
clip, the clips carrying one tag, a single clip, a reel of one team's goals, or
the whole match — with your voice, your drawings and a picture of you burned in.
Transcribe a clip's commentary on your own machine if you want the words as
well. It runs on Ubuntu 24.04 and Linux Mint 22, on x86-64.
Getting it
Builds are published on the
releases page as a
.deb, which you install with sudo apt install ./pundit_*_amd64.deb.
Installing says what your machine needs, and to run a build
newer than the last release,
build it from source.
The guide walks through the app task by task, the changelog says what changed in each version, and the developer page is the way into the code.
